 -Research into women and swimming

To gain a deeper understanding of the many issues surrounding women's participation in swimming,WSF and the Amateur Swimming Association commissioned HNI International to conduct research into women's attitudes to swimming and the barriers that they face. The key questions addressed were: why other women do not swim and what interventionist ideas might make them swim. The research, focused on women between the ages of 25 and 34 years. Swimming has a particular reference to this age group as women's involvement with the activity can take the form of either swimming for their own volition or as mother with young children. The opinion expressed in focus groups around the country were comprised of a mix of women who both do and do not swim.
